The applicant must be a valid Indian citizen with residential proof and permanent address within scheme area.
Must own a house with a rooftop suitable and structurally sound for installing solar panel systems.
The household should have a valid electricity connection from the local electricity distribution company (DISCOM).
The applicant must not have availed any other government solar subsidy for rooftop solar installations previously.
Priority may be given to households with low to middle income, following income criteria based on scheme phase.
The rooftop area must be structurally sound and enough to install solar panels safely and efficiently.
Applicants need to be registered on the official PM Surya Ghar portal to apply for subsidy.

Proof of Identity: Valid government-issued ID like Aadhaar card or voter ID to confirm applicant’s identity.
Proof of Residence: Recent electricity bill or domicile certificate showing the residential address.
Consumer Account Number: Electricity connection number from the local DISCOM for verification.
Bank Account Details: Account number and IFSC code for direct transfer of central financial assistance (CFA) subsidy.
Completed Application Form: Officially filled form submitted via the National Rooftop Solar Portal.
Vendor Agreement: Contract or service agreement with an empaneled rooftop solar vendor.
System Installation Certificate: Commissioning and technical compliance certificate issued post solar installation.
Warranty and Maintenance Documents: Proof of warranty and operation & maintenance (O&M) arrangement with the vendor.
Photographs of Installation Site: Clear images of rooftop solar panels and surrounding area for monitoring.
